Gum Reshaping
Are you feeling self-conscious or embarrassed by excessive gum tissue along your teeth, also known as a “gummy smile?” We can correct this with a gum reshaping procedure designed to make the gum-to-tooth ratio more proportional and create a more balanced smile. Gum reshaping is a minimally-invasive procedure that uses a soft tissue laser to gently recontour the gums.
A local anesthetic may be administered to minimize any pain and discomfort during treatment, although most patients say they do not experience any discomfort. The laser is targeted directly at the gums to reshape them and remove any excess tissue, without harming the teeth or other surrounding mouth tissue. Some swelling and bleeding may occur following the procedure, but this generally subsides quickly. Gum reshaping typically takes no more than one hour. Tooth Colored Fillings
Traditionally, silver amalgam fillings were the standard for repairing and filling cavities. However, amalgam fillings contain mercury, a substance that has been found to be harmful to the environment and to have health risks. Even a small amount of mercury may be dangerous. Dr. Hashemian is committed to providing the healthiest and safest method of treatment, so we only use tooth-colored porcelain fillings for our patients.
Cosmetic Bonding
Cosmetic dental bonding is one of the fastest, easiest ways to improve small dental imperfections, such as cracks, gaps, chips, malalignment, and discoloration. While porcelain veneers may be necessary for major issues, cosmetic bonding can be a great solution for minor dental problems. This procedure can create a strong, balanced, and beautiful smile.
First, Dr. Hashemian will apply a special cleaning agent on your affected teeth to create an adequate surface for the bonding material to adhere to. Next, your dentist will apply a Dental Resin that matches your natural teeth. A laser or LED light will harden the material, and your dentist will polish and shape your teeth for a beautiful, natural-looking, renewed smile. The process is virtually painless, quick, and can usually be completed in one office visit with immediate results. Cosmetic bonding can minimize minor dental imperfections for a rejuvenated, functional, and radiant smile.
